A New Blog for a New Year

from Sonya Hayes

So, it is a new year full of hope and opportunity. For me, I have taken time to reflect on 2024. Fortunately, I can say there have been more blessings than burdens. I am thankful, grateful, and even humbled that the Creator of the Universe has taken the time to keep His promises and remember me.

There have been burdens and hurts; there have been questions without answers; and there has been uncertainty in the next steps. One lesson learned is that if God allows you to have a fiery furnace or a lion’s den moment, do not let it be wasted. Allow your eyes to see the Father. Allow the fire to refine. See the lion’s mouth has been clenched. If the Father has permitted joy and/or pain, remember that each has a divine reason.

I am stronger inside because of the experiences poured into my life. One of my favorite verses is Jeremiah 29:11. “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and hope.”

In 2025, I will again have moments of great joy and laughter. I know I will also have nights when tears will flow and my heart will hurt. But I also know the truth of another favorite promise,
“The Lord your God is with you,
   the Mighty Warrior who saves.
He will take great delight in you;
   in his love he will no longer rebuke you,
   but will rejoice over you with singing.” Zephaniah 3:17

Happy New Year! May you find hope and strength in all that God allows. Listen to Father’s song; He has one just for you.
